This week, the Financieel Dagblad devoted an article to tech initiatives in the Netherlands targeting the real estate sector. Besides the taxi industry, the hotel industry, banks and insurers, technology companies are now setting their sights on the real estate sector. Under the heading 'proptech' derived from 'property' and 'technology', these initiatives are referred to.
United States is leading the way in proptech and in Europe in particular, new initiatives are emerging in real estate crowdfunding. A few platforms are active in the Netherlands, including Crowdrealestate. Together, the platforms have done a handful of projects for several tens of millions of euros, including Crowdrealestate's projects in Germany. The UK includes Property Partners, Proplend and Lendy, Estonia has Estate Guru, and Germany's iFunded issues equity on real estate.
In the Netherlands, there are plenty of opportunities to apply proptech on a larger scale. Precisely because the real estate sector is very conservative, there are plenty of opportunities. It is especially up to the big real estate parties to take this further.
